Hello,
I first want to introduce myself. My name is Anthony Norris. I am 42 years of age as of May 28, 2010. I thank you for taking your time out in coming here to this site which I have requested you to do so. You and your time is of the utmost importance to me. I have requested you come here both in prayer and hopes you may find it in your heart and soul to help support me in the fight against Ulcerative Colitis. I was diagnosed with the disease in February of 1997.
Ulcerative Colitis is a pre-cancerous, life-threatening disease of the large Colon. When active, symptoms are severe weight loss, bloody watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, gas, nutrient deficiency, sleep deprivation from going to the restroom every twenty to thirty minutes around the clock, etc. Ulcerative Colitis causes other health concerns like vision problems, eye diseases, and even in some cases blindness, arthritis like rheumatoid or degenerative arthritis or osteoporosis, bone loss, muscle loss and weakness, muscle cramps, sleep disorders and so on. Medications to treat the disease may complicate treatment as they have side effects which require routine tests and checkups by a doctor.
Now you have some information on Ulcerative Colitis and an understanding of what I have been going through and what I am up against. I feel you have a better understanding of why your support is of the utmost importance to me.
The disease has hit me hard in the last several years since July of 2007. My first episode was in February of 1997 when I was diagnosed, then in February and March of 2004, and in July of 2007, and every year after that. The longest my Colitis was active was from first of June in 2008 all the way to the end of May of 2009. Every time the disease became active, at some point I had to be hospitalized. My last episode was in April of 2010 on Easter weekend, I went into the IU Med Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. I had no job and no insurance, just unemployment. Yes, I am one of the many victims of the economy whom has lost work. I have over eighteen thousand dollars in hospital, Medical and doctor bills and tests are continuing, so the bills are escalating. Tests are continuing for the medication purposes and nutrient deficiencies and the disease itself.
I have photos located on my image page from March of 2004, right after the hospital released me, for you to see my skinny self as well as internal colon photos of the wreckage the disease as caused. Do a google search to compare a healthy colon to my colon and you will be shocked at what you will find.
Just imagine me weighing 140 and then weighing 110 in just five to six weeks, but my worst bout was in 2009. I went from one-hundred and fifty pounds down to one-hundred six pounds and eight ounces. I had C-Dif on top of my Ulcerative Colitis. C-Dif is a life threatening bacteria and those with digestive disorders like Uclerative Colitis are more susceptible of getting the bacteria in their digestive tract. This is it for now, I am doing ok for now, but I am still on the road to recovery and still out looking for work. Will you support me in fighting this battle against this terrible disease? A disease that has forced me to make extreme changes in my diet and life-style, as well as a career change at this point in life.
